Welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lynchburg! image
Friends,
Welcome to our website! We are glad you have taken the time to learn about our congregation and Unitarian Universalism.

This site includes basic information about Unitarian Universalism as well as events that will occur within the life of our Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lynchburg.

If you are completely new to Unitarian Universalism, you might wish to read our Seven Principles and Sources, which lay the foundation for our theological and ethical way of life. Also, you will find on this site some of the history of our faith which stretches back into early Judeo-Christian history.

Because we believe in the individual responsible search for truth and meaning, you will find in our congregation people with a wide range of beliefs, from those for whom the concept of God has meaning and those who find spiritual insight in humanism, earth centered spirituality, Jesus’ teachings, or no structured belief. Together, we share our beliefs with one another so that we may grow and deepen our understanding of the sacred.

Our commitment to the worth and dignity of every person means our doors are open and welcome all people of good will who with us seek to build a more just, peaceful and loving world.

Ours is a multigenerational congregation where we learn from the very young as well as our longtime members. We all have something to teach and we take pleasure in sharing our wisdom. We learn together and individually through age-appropriate learning opportunities. This is a community of people who enjoy one another. Socializing, learning and playing together helps build friendship. Yet we also join together to work to make Lynchburg and the world more just and peaceful. That includes caring for our Mother Earth.

We welcome you to join us. If you have questions, please contact our minister, Rev. Terre Balof at tbalof@gmail.com.
